"Desiree" is an approximately 40 year old, female California Desert Tortoise received by SDTTS from a man in Orange County who had moved to smaller accommodations and could no longer care for her.

Upon receipt she was given a health check and appeared to have an egg or a stone. She was taken to Dr. Lee Young, a reptile specialist in San Marcos, for an exam. The X-ray showed a very large bladder stone that must be removed (see x-ray above.) She needs this surgery and recovery care to live a normal healthy life.

We need your financial support to help pay for her surgery and recovery. Donations can be submitted through the Society website at sdturtle.org. You can include a comment that your donation is for Desiree. (All donations to SDTTS are tax deductible.)

Assuming all goes well, Desiree will be up for adoption in the Spring following brumation, after her surgery and recovery is complete. If you would like to apply for adoption, please complete the application on sdturtle.org or give Ginny Stigen (her foster mom) a call at 760.738.8865 for more information.
