By becoming a member of San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society, you show your support for the mission of education, rescue and rehabilitation, adoption and conservation. Memberships start as low as $25 a year. Your contribution empowers the Society's growth, because the size of our membership has helped garner additional financial support and recognition from foundations and corporations.
The Society never charges for adoptions. But to assure continuity and quality of care for our turtle and tortoise adoptions, we will only adopt an animal to a member of the Society. Upon successful inspection for adequate yard and housing facilities for each turtle or tortoise, only members enjoy the privilege of adopting animals that have been relinquished to the Society.
Members receive a quarterly newsletter, called THE VOICE OF THE TURTLE, which is packed full of feature articles about members, the latest chelonian news items, lively discussions, care tips, and announcements of upcoming events and guest speakers. Your addition to our national email list will keep you up to date on all Society activities and worldwide conservation efforts.
Members can choose their own level of involvement. Whether passive or full-bore, there are numerous Society activities and volunteer programs you can choose to explore. And members have the right to vote in Society elections and run for office as well.
