Saving "Jessie" from the Dumpster
Jessie was saved today by the helping hands of the San Diego Turtle & Tortoise Society. We received a call from a lady that had rescued him from a landlord that was throwing him in the trash dumpster at an apartment complex. She asked what he was throwing away and he said trash from a tenant he was evicting. When she saw it was a reptile cage, she asked to see it and found him in the middle of some trash that was packed in the cage. She returned home to Camp Pendleton and sent an email to the Society and the tortoise was picked up immediately. Jessie is safely in a foster home now and will be looking for a forever home to adopt him. He is approximately 2 years old and appears healthy and ready to be loved.
